this workshop is based on improvisation.
The actors improvise alone, in two or in small groups.
To play the game with “major” and “minor”, having fun to play in the state of major or minor are one of the improvisation techniques, with which we create a lively interaction without text base.
Various improvisation games direct the actor in the search of his character. It’s about the fun of transforming ourselves utterly beyond recognition, making the audience believe that one is in fact a different person. It is about the discovery of the character, his voice, his movements, his way of expressing himself.
The approach to „building characters“ of Nicole Kehrberger is unconventional and far away from analysis and theory. It is very similar to the mask play.
The mask helps the actor to discover and play with his own madness. When the actor lets himself be led by the mask, he becomes transparent and translucent. Through the mask we can see his humanity.
It is very similar with the character: Our transformation serves us as mask, through which we play with the vast human diversity driven by our individual madness.
